In everyday Indian life, the *polar structure of the human being occurs in the following form: In India, people greet each other, not by shaking hands, but by placing the palms of their hands, facing upwards, against each other and pronouncing the word “Namastè”, which means “I bow to you”. Gandhi is credited with expanding this formula: “I honor the place in you where light, love, truth, peace, wisdom and the entire universe reside and where we are both one.”
Polarity therefore means, on the one hand, the material person, the material part of the soul, the psyche with mind, feeling, memory, etc. On the other hand, light and love refer to the spiritual part of the soul of the person concerned.
Learning to recognize one’s true identity means gradually activating one’s spiritual part and thus increasingly suppressing that of the mammal. Paul calls this “daily dying.” By this he does not mean a biological withering away of the body, the “hardware”, but to reduce the lower, material software (mind), the program of the instinct of self-preservation and to overcome ego behaviour, namely through service, through self-giving for others, whereby the focus is on strangers (!), as the example of the Good Samaritan shows; self-giving for one’s own partners or children can be done by anyone and is worthless for ego dying. In this respect, the term “love of neighbor” from Christianity has nothing to do with love for partners, children, relatives, friends, etc.
In ancient Greek mythology, the actual nature of man is found in the term “demigod”, especially in Heracles. Anyone familiar with the symbolism knows that this potentially means everyone, but especially those who face up to their inner conflicts (egoism-devotion, hate-love, etc.) and take up the fight against their animalistic software and are then described as “heroes”. The vernacular often characterizes the sides of the dual character with the words “inner bastard” and, on the other hand, “conscience.”
Everyone has the potential of the demigod or child of God because they are the owner of the divine spark, whether they are aware of it or not. Everyone has the spiritual potential for self-knowledge and self-liberation:
“You are gods and all children of the Most High.” (Ps. 82, also John 10:34)
From this it is clear that spiritual development, transformation, enlightenment or whatever you want to call the attainment of higher consciousness is the very essence of every human being, regardless of how far or how much it is developed or buried.

No one has told us that each of us is unique, divine and fascinating at the core of our being:
“What good would it be if I were king and did not know it?”
(Meister Eckhart: Sermons 15)
The story of creation gives the reason for our divine origin: it is our likeness, i.e. a relationship like that between father or mother and child. In a sense, the child is an image of the parents, but not the same as an adult. This is associated with creation potential. For the ego, the outer human being, however, likeness is not enough. It wants to play God in the sense of being equal and achieving equality.
Of course, man has creative power, but only of states and not of principles. These were already there before man, like relativity before Einstein. Humans can create the design of life through genetic manipulation and cloning, but not life itself. Dr. Viktor Frankenstein sends his regards.
The idea that humans have a divine core seems hardly credible in view of their predatory behavior and what they are doing to our planet and their kind. Modern man in the age of globalization faces a myriad of threats from “others” such as competitive pressure, attacks, job insecurity, streams of refugees, burglaries, drug use, climate sinners or politically and religiously motivated perpetrators of violence. It is therefore difficult to identify the aforementioned divine legacy.
But it is also part of everyday life that incredible talents, brilliant achievements and sacrifices for the general public can be observed. There are the great role models of human history, who are not to be understood as exceptions, but as examples of the inner potential in every human being, similar to parents for children. Every day we witness the incredible abilities, talents and courage that lie within people, such as young circumnavigators, lifesavers, healers, talents in talent shows, super athletes, martyrs such as Jan Pallach, whistleblowers, etc.
In addition, humans are the only living beings capable of transformation. A flower can do this just as little as a lion. Animals cannot break out of the animalistic program of self-preservation. Only humans have the ability to develop vertically. Goethe, the master of poetic summary, puts it in a nutshell:
“Were not the eye sunlike,
it could never see the sun,
were it not for God’s own power within us,
how could the divine delight us.”
(Tame Xenias, Book 3)

This diagram outlines the threefold division into body, soul and spirit. Mind and soul (material and spiritual part) represent the bridge between body and spirit, between form and God. Science uses the term psyche for the material part; the spiritual part is not its subject.
In this bridge meet mind (red: instinctual part) and soul (blue: spiritual part). The mixing lever is the consciousness, that controls human behavior and – more or less consciously – makes the decisions between “above” and “below”. This mixer illustrates the constant conflict between “angels” and “devils”, i.e. between self-love and love of neighbor, between the egocentric instinct for self-preservation and the divine impulse of all-love; it also shows the unique characteristic of humans as the only “mammals” with decision-making capabilities. For most people, however, the conflict as such does not actually take place, because access to the spiritual part of the soul is blocked; they only follow the material part of the soul’s guidance. Typical examples of complete control by the instinct of self-preservation are the behavior of fans in soccer stadiums or the hit-and-run after causing a traffic accident. For this reason, the soul forces must always be differentiated between the instinctual part and the spiritual part.
Most people are not aware of the dual identity with an egoistic instinct for self-preservation on the one hand and the power of the soul beyond this. They believe that they only consist of mind, feelings and of course the body. Only a few are aware of the soul within themselves. They are convinced that the mind is their main controlling authority. However, the fact that it could only be the executor of inputs from “above” and “below”, i.e. from the ego, is out of the question for them. Of course, there are also many who “believe” in the existence of a controlling spirit soul within them, but without any further consequences: This ignorance of one’s true identity is the cause of all the suffering in this world. We are biological mammals and gods at the same time. We are an expression of the mammalian instinct, but also an expression of the divine power of love (“Love your enemies.”). The fact that we live in a vale of tears is a consequence of this ignorance.
What would have happened if people had been aware of their divine heritage, their divine identity (alongside their animal identity) from the beginning of their earthly existence? The guidelines were there: Gilgamesh, Odysseus, Heracles, Jesus, many prophets, martyrs, Plato, Plotinus, Ibn Arabi, Nanak, Lao Tse, Gandhi, Mandela, Mother Teresa, many others. However, people have never perceived these signposts as examples of their own hidden potential, but as exceptions from some other star that one can only stand before in wonder and adoration. This is why the Hindu monk Vivekananda challenges every human being:
“Do you know how much power, strength and greatness lies hidden within you? Man has only revealed an infinitely small part of his real power. Anyone who thinks he is small and weak is mistaken. Do you know everything that lies within you? Within you are unlimited power and bliss. Within you lives the world spirit, whose inner word is the only one you should listen to. Recognize who you really are, the all-knowing … soul that is not subject to death. Remember this truth day and night until it has become a part of your life and determines your thoughts and actions. Remember that you … are not the sleeping everyday person. Awaken and arise … and reveal your divine nature.”
As long as the self-knowledge of the divine image is not there, the lower animalistic behavior characterized by self-preservation dominates and is not a reflection of the higher soul. This is precisely the reason why the self-centered human being can fall ill, have desires and fears, cheat, torture and murder.

Hm?
